HMK: RE_Constructing

RE_constructing was the first project Daniel Dennis de Wit and I curated upon taking over artist-in-residence HMK {Hotel MariaKapel}.

From the pressrelease:

“Metamorphoses in and around Hotel MariaKapel; new perspectives and attitudes

RE_constructing
concerns itself with metamorphosis. A new prospect and transformation at the same time. According to Merriam Webster ‘metamorphosis’ is: ‘a change of physical form, structure, or substance: a striking alteration in appearance, character, or circumstances’. RE_constructing is the first show in Hotel MariaKapel by new programme curators Jantine Wijnja and Daniël Dennis De Wit, where they show what in contemporary art makes their hearts beat faster.

In this show artists have been selected whose work as well as attitudes are important and special: Josh Greene, who each month dedicates one night’s worth of his earnings as a waiter to an art fund (the amount of each month’s grant is determined by his earnings of that specific night). Jelle Bakker, who in the construction of his gigantic marble-tracks pushes dedication and focus to amazing heights. Constant Dullaart bravely descends into the strange world of amateur film in order to assemble his own films. Jonathan Harchick, who no longer needs the art world, propells his uneasy productions into the world via the internet instead.”
